It is official FGS = Ofsted ‘Good’

Receiving this wonderful news and sharing this with our staff, students and wider community Danni Tedford Acting Principal said:

On behalf of the whole team at Flixton Girls School, I am delighted with our latest Ofsted inspection which recognises the hard work and achievements of our students, staff, Governors, and the Trust, as well as the support provided by parents / carers.’

Overall, the inspection recognised how teachers and leadership team have a school wide focus on raising aspirations of students by ensuring the curriculum and their broader personal development is well considered.

Inspectors’ comments included:

  • Aspirational curriculum – increasing ambition for its students and their achievement.
  • Students know that they are expected to follow ‘the Flixton way’ by doing the right thing, being consistent and showing perseverance. Students rise to this challenge.
  • New students settle into school quickly. Parents and carers appreciate how smoothly their children are welcomed into the school in year 7.
  • The school has high expectations of all students.
  • Students are happy at the school.
  • The school offers a varied range of trips and visits to expand students’ experience of the wider world. They eagerly adopt positions of responsibility including acting as eco ambassadors and as prefects. They proudly wear the badges that indicate their area of leadership in school. These opportunities help students to become active citizens.
  • The curriculum and broader personal development ensure students are well prepared to grow up in a modern and diverse Britain.
  • Teachers have strong subject knowledge aided by the Trust ensuring suitable training is in place to support leaders at all levels and to develop teaching expertise.
  • Governors and trustees have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Staff are proud to work at Flixton Girls School.
