SS Simon & Jude – Outstanding by Ofsted

Awarded Outstanding by Ofsted
SS Simon and Jude’s CE Primary School, in Great Lever, Bolton, has achieved an Ofsted outstanding grade, after school leadership turned around performance.
Ofsted highlighted:
‘Leaders’ determined and no-nonsense approach to continually improving the quality of teaching across the school ensures that pupils make outstanding progress from their starting points.
Teachers constantly strive to improve their practice. Those at the start of their career are very well supported by leaders and colleagues. As a result, teaching is never less than good.’
The school was graded inadequate before converting to academy status and has been on an impressive journey in its development to becoming one of Bolton’s outstanding primary schools.
Our school Principal, Liz Peacock, told the Bolton News:
“To achieve an outstanding grade from Ofsted in every area is credit to everyone involved in the school. I think the children, the parents, the staff and the governors will all agree that the report really captures the essence of our school — it is who we are.
This is an achievement for the community as whole, they are a part of the school, and it is a celebration for everybody and something worth celebrating. The report said that pupils have a ‘curiosity and thirst’ for learning, which was ‘ignited by a rich and relevant curriculum’.”
