7. Expressive Arts and Design

Expressive Arts and Design (EAD) is one of four specific areas of learning within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. There are seven areas of learning in total, three prime areas and four specific areas.

Expressive Arts and Design encompasses a wide breadth of creative areas, such as listening and responding to music, singing, dancing and performing, experimenting with colour mixing and different textures, creating models, for example, junk modelling, small world, construction and role play.

Practice your new skills together!

Our new platform, Learning with Parents, helps Reception families practice fun activities together to learn more about new topics at school.

The platform is video and game based, with clips to explain how you can have a go at each activity at home and let your teacher know what you’ve been up to to earn rewards.
