Early years gives children a strong grounding in number. Children learn to count confidently, develop a deep understanding of the numbers to 10, the relationship between them and the patterns within those numbers:

  • Count objects, actions and sounds
  • Count and compare numbers to 10
  • Understand the one more and ones less than
  • Explore the composition of numbers to 10
  • Continue, copy and create repeating patterns.
